After Euripides, translated by Roger Beck

Univers-Al

A modern adaptation of the Bacchae

Dionysus has returned to Thebes — and Thebes refuses to believe. Univers-Al is a modern adaptation of Euripides' Bacchae, working from Roger Beck's literal translation of the ancient Greek text.

The god arrives in disguise. The city resists. King Pentheus tightens his grip on order while the women of Thebes pour into the mountains, seized by something older than law. What follows is ecstasy, and madness.

Gaia Theatre brings the Bacchae into the present tense — not as a museum piece but as a living question: What is love and what is the cost of it?

The Intergalactic Adventures of Princess Octopus

A new play

An alien lands on Earth. They did not mean to come here. They do not know the rules. They are trying, very hard, to understand.

The Intergalactic Adventures of Princess Octopus is a modern play about strangeness, wonder, and what it means to arrive somewhere you were never meant to belong — and find, against all odds, that you might stay.

Playful, strange, and quietly devastating. A story for anyone who has ever felt like they landed on the wrong planet.
